Hello, I’m Nicolas, luthier and founder of STAN GUITARS.

A passionate musician for more than 20 years, I have played in several extreme metal and hardcore punk bands across France and Europe. These musical adventures naturally led me to take a deep interest in the gear and instruments I was playing.

A curious self-taught tinkerer, I first learned how to maintain and modify my own guitars, then gradually those of friends and fellow musicians. My path has been somewhat unconventional: after initial studies in electronics, semi-professional work in studio recording and live sound, and many years of experimentation, I ultimately decided to pursue lutherie professionally starting in 2019.

I trained intensively in the UK with Tom March, Dan McNeil, and Ben Crowe at Crimson Guitars, and later in France with Benjamin de Oliveira at Echo d’Artistes.

Since 2021, my workshop has been based in Labastide‑Saint‑Georges, in the Tarn region of southern France, where I design and build premium guitars and basses.

Blending traditional craftsmanship with modern technologies, each instrument is designed to deliver precise tone, optimal ergonomics, and a distinctive aesthetic.
